Comment:
I hadn't intended to post this but what the heck. I made this the other day in response to a co-worker's statement - and we've all heard this before - that there hasn't been any good, just plain rock music since "-- fill in your blank--". So I threw together this collection of fairly recent stuff and tossed it to `em. Haven't heard back yet but I got plenty more where this came from.
Feedback:
Yes, this certainly seems to prove your point. Lots of cool stuff.
A lot of solid tracks here. A great mix for the uninitiated. Personal faves would be Shins, Lips, and Yo La Tengo. I haven't heard the Jet album, but I do like their "hit". Cheers! Brent
I'm uninitiated. I think I need this.
i'm digging this, some cool stuff.
I hope this doesn't post twice - but the site has made me re-sign-in several times. Nice mix - great cover art. I'm really digging the FOW, Shins, New Pornographers, and Doves picks. I'm still on the fence on British Sea Power - it sounded great on the listening post at Kims, but at home I just can't find a song I want to throw on a mix disc.
I havte the old "There's nothing good to listen to anymore" statement. Usually it loosely translates to "I'm real lazy now and don't want to bother looking for good music anymore" or "I've become such a stick in the mud. Would you like to be bummed with me?"

Dale, I'm completely with you on the British Sea Power. In any case, this is a fantastic mix -- well done.
I got excited about British Sea Power after hearing "Carrion" on a mix by fellow AOTMer Laura. I got the album the next day along with a couple of other things from the mix (don't you just love trading mixes?)and I'm thinking of using that song on a "hits" version of this mix. The album will grow on you if you give it a chance.
rrrrrockin'...very nicely done!
Works for me.
yep, nice job.
I like the ones I know here, so I'll have to check out the rest. Nice job!
great stuff, George. I especially love the kings of leon, white stripes and Flaming lips pix
Ditto McDonald 12!
great stuff.
Yep, completely agree that it's tiring to hear "there's nothing good anymore" - course there is, and this proves it very nicely! Really great picks, especially the opening 3 and the Interpol.
I totally agree with your comments, There's always great music out there
Another great one George! Show 'em the way. (I agree Mr. This Is Pop! regarding the genesis of such a statement.)
I've been fighting against that statement for the last twenty years. Hope you helped your co-worker reach enlightenment with this.
Hotness!!! Point made obviously!!
This if very cool.
Is cool, even (no "ifs" about it!!
Missed this one when it was first posted George; You've soundly proven your point with this mix. Got to agree with 'This Is Pop's' translation comment.
Game, set and match, I would say!
