Comment:

so here's the story. I just moved from a very very large city to a very small college town. I love the fresh air but not the crappy funk and hippy tunes out here in the country...this big city girl started jonesing for some trashy tunes to shake and shimmy to. My prayers were answered...a rock and roll night has started up! The poster advertises rawk, trash and soul, however week after week it seems as though they play the same soul greatest hits complilation and bands over and over and over. Don't get me wrong, I am very very happy to have a place to go that's not all smoking up and swaying to the music, but I am getting kinda tired of listening to the same set each week(white stripes, jet, kings of leon etc). I've come up with a solution to the problem. I've offered to do some guest spots, and bring in some new music. This is the first set. Nothing to obscure, just a nice little sampling of something different that I think the kids will like. As the weeks go on I'll get a little more daring, adding some rockabilly, garage, and metal and less of the ol britpop standbys. We'll see how it goes. feel free to feedback me your suggestions...

Kudos for the Sloan + a sweet Oasis track. This should really screw with the Birkenstock set- have fun! + I'd love to know where you got that image from- it's sweet! Out.

This looks great...having grown up in New York City, went to school as an undergrad in Boston, and now living in State College (read: Middle of Nowhere) Pennsylvania, I can certainly feel your pain. Great job...I especially like the energy on this one.

Some excellent choices here, particularly the tracks by Edwin Starr, the Undertones, the Sonics, ? & the Mysterians, Teenage Fanclub, and the Raveonettes. Docked a star for the inclusion of Joan Jett, AC/DC, and Oasis. Also, I would have preferred the original recordings of "Cum On Feel The Noize" and "Smokin In The Boys Room," but these are passable covers. And aren't we all just a little tired of "Suffragette City" when there are so many better Bowie tunes out there?

Please keep in mind this is a dj set meant for mass playing to a not so educated crowd. This is why the joan jet, suffragette city oasis, quiet riot cover rather than the slade original etc. No fun if I clear the dancefloor with songs that while inspired are unknown to the patrons. Moving mountains and shaping musical tastes takes a little time. grin. As for the pic, a friend drew it of me for my biz...www.biffbangmeow.com thanks all!
