Comment:

A tad schizophrenic, like most of my submissions, since it's primarily a smattering of cool new (to me) tunes, with some revivals of older faves, though I kind of like how a sense of cohesion slowly begins to form; like when you put a bunch of strangers together on an adventure, eventually they'll probably end up friends, and it becomes increasingly evident that they belong together like bop bop a loo ba shawalla sh-bang sh-bang. I totally just gayed myself. Sorry. This mix includes a touch of my bagpipe addiction (the world needs more Real McKenzies), lost pop gems from the '80s (Tenpole Tudor, Tracey Ullman), out-of-place melancholy (Grapes of Wrath, Beatles), golden oldies (Gary Bonds, Four Freshmen, Dick Dale), a few utter wild cards (Nick Cave, All-Time Quarterback, Carpenters), and a whole lot of songs that seriously inspire me to go dancing crazily down my street ("Sugar High", "Centerfold", Letters to Cleo, Toy Dolls, Catch 22, GBV, "Merengue", etc.). It's not the most bombastic or celebration-happy mix I've ever made, but like the title says, this season-length party's just getting started...;)
