Comment:
I thought I'd never get enough songs to go beyond Abbey Road. I was wrong. Thanks to a very generous Brazilian online acquaintance named Joolyn, I was finally able to finish Rubber Soul. A few words about these covers. Highlights include the a cappella hip-hop version of Drive my Car by Cadence, a Hindi version of Norwegian Wood, and an Italian version of Michelle. Bryan Ferry, as always, is brilliant and Cathy Berberian's operatic treatment of Girl is wonderfully bizarre. The weakest song here is the cover of Wait by Spinal Cracker. It's not that Spinal Cracker is hard to listen to, it's just that they're a Beatles imitation group, not an interpretive cover band. Unfortunately, I could find no other covers of Wait. It looks like I'll be able to do the White Album as well, thanks again to Joolyn and to Neill, who posted a mix here called The White Owl Bum.Feedback:
Excellent Greg! I was wondering if you were going to take on Rubber Soul. Who would have ever imagined that Cathy Berberian would turn up on two different mixes posted minutes apart?! Scary! Thanks for the mixes BTW.
nice idea and well done
Looks just brilliant. It's Adriano Celentano, though, not the other way round. ;)
VERY nice, If you ever want to trade JUST say the magic word!
Great work. Nice one!
