Comment:

It's my younger brother's birthday. And today while on the subway we were having a nostalgic music conversation. I was talking about how some of my earliest memories were singing along to songs that came out when I was five and six years old. he said that he couldn't remember much of the music I was talking about back when it was new. By that I mean, he KNOWS "Jump" by Van Halen, and that it came out in 1984...but doesn't remember hearing it back in '84. So here it is for him, a look back at that great year of 1982. And while I thought for a moment or two about making it legit, with great new wave and punk...I decided instead to go for good ol fashioned top 40 pop. Decided to go with everyone's favorite '82 movie for the cover. Happy birthday bro, good luck making a similar mix for 1978. Cheers! -Famous.

Very educational for me, too! 1982 really was a great year. I might be a bit biased, though.

You think I only goto this site to find your mixes/blog and comment? Well, that only happens... most of the time... But I did have something to say about this'n, I was just saving it... Eye of the Tiger reminds me of my G-Friends little brother's band who does a Staind type cover of it. "Jenny, I got your number, I'm gonna make you mine, Jenny, don't change your number..." (Love that song!) That Stones song, the video makes me cringe, so tacky, so 80's! 2-6 were runners up on my 80's mix. Never been much of a fan of the Police, but that would be my favorite song by them. All in all the 80's confused me, it took me a while to become comfortable enough with them to listen to some of the music. I think it's because my parents still kinda lived and dressed me like we were still in the 70's, so I was never very comfortable in the 80's. But now I dress like it's at least 1999 or 2000 and I think it's about 2002 so we are more or less caught up here. Take care!

Mysterious how your brother remembers "Jump". I can as well and I was born in 1983. I think it must have been played a lot on our local radio station or something. It was only many years later when I supposedly heard it "for the first time" that I felt I'd known that song AGES and must probably be the first song I ever remember hearing, along with something of Freedom by Neil Young.

I love that Steve Miller Band track. My brother and I used to sit in front of the fan and sing that into the fan becuase it distorted our voices. What can I say? We were poor and easily amused.

Thank you so much for NOT putting "Mr. Roboto" by STYX... I breathed a sigh of relief...
