Comment:
A mix dedicated to a fine songwriter and citizen, John Whitehead. As half of McFadden & Whitehead, he assisted in the crafting of The Philly Sound back in the 1970's and wrote such hits as "Backstabbers" and "Bad Luck." He also, co-produced many Philadelphia International hits. But my favorite memory of McFadden & Whitehead was when I attended an Eagles game (during the Buddy Ryan era, I think), and they sang "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" at halftime. That song was a rallying cry for many Eagles teams.I was shocked this morning to read that Whitehead had been shot outside his house in Philadelphia, apparently by thugs who were gunning for his nephew, who was with him at the time. John Whitehead will be missed.
From one Philly boy to another...rest in peace...

Feedback:
Kudos.....this is money!
Excellent job here! I, too, saw the news this morning, and was saddened by this loss.
Some nice stuff. It's always good to see Jerry Butler.
Sad Loss> Dig The Buttler & O'Jays...plus Three Degrees!
The music helps but oh the sadness.
Sad news I've only just heard via your mix! Great opening half dozen trax.
Good stuff, I love that Archie Bell tune. I saw the line 'John Whitehead shot' on nme.com and I'm sorry to say I didn't make the connection... sad news all the same.
Yes, sad news and a great loss. I lived in Philly through the 70s and his presence was felt everywhere.
Oh my god , i remember all this tracks when i was a TeenAger i used to dance to all of this. Definitivly a nice Hommage sampler to John Whitehead. great Work
