Comment:
A disc made not specifically for, but definitely in the spirit of, AotM's own Mo' Twang. I think someone posted a mix for him recently and it made me think, "Hey, I've never made a mix of my favorite country songs", so this is the result. Actually, more "alt-country" stuff made it here than I originally intended and a lot of it got front-loaded, which was not my intent, either. Anyway, though, this was the way that it flowed best. And I'm definitely interested in determining which (or how many of) my fellow record geeks here can determine all of the links between sequential songs here. (Hint: Not all of them have links, but a vast majority do.) The title is from the Kristofferson classic.Feedback:
She Thinks I Still Care, is not only a great song, it's really awesome title too, nice job
My God. If I were to pick the best section of this, it would have to be 1-24. Every song is a stone cold classic. I wanted to say that the Dillard & Clark into Pernice struck me (which it did), but to be honest, I'd then have to add tracks 8, 9, 10, 11...well, you get the idea. As far as the links between sequential songs, Gram covered "The Christian Life" and Gillian and Ryan have performed together. I'd try to figure out more, but I need to go to bed.
filled with many of my personal favourite country songs too, Rob. Too many to name. A really great mix.
I agree with Adam and Gerry. Great selections from start to finish!
Lots of my favorites are here, too! It sure does make me happy to see mo' twang on AotM.
I love this.
Holy smoke Rob! This is my kind of country-mix! I must do a cowboy-mix myself;) Have a great weekend!
This is great, great stuff. Really fantastic - I've wanted to do a mix like this for a while, but I don't know how mine would be much different than this - except I probably would switch out the Dead for a Steve Earle track - but that's it. Excellent.
Sounds like you may have started a trend, Rob. We need mo' twang on AOTM. Great tunes .... too many to name (I'd have to name them all!)
Looks good Rob even from this land where cowboys take on a whole new meaning!
Fabulous Rob. I especially love the stretch from 1-24 ;-) "Acuff-Rose" is the perfect opener.
Tremendous accomplishment, Rob. Like the others said: the best tracks are 1-24.
Well done. Fantastic.
Well done. Fantastic.
this is really great! the only links i know are: elvis wrote his song for george jones/the burrito bros. covered the louvins song/me and paul is about willie's drummer who played with waylon jennings?/the waylon song and the patsy cline songs are written by willie......
Count me in among the list of admirers on this one, Rob. A real classic. Great, great stuff.
This looks really super, Rob! Bring on the twang!
Ah Dom les garton vache est aussi tres different a les cowboys en Angleterre. Where was I, oh yeh superb Rob.
love this.
This is fantastic!!
Almost missed this one... great mix, everyone a classic.
Rob goes country, & speaks it like a native. I can't identify any of the sequence connections, but I don't see any weakest link, either.
Great! Solid! And would you put this one on the pile?
I LOVE this -- very nice work. :)
