as soothing as an old flannel shirt and that first joint of the morning. always nice to see the velvets and the dead coexisting peacefully on a mix.

Aaahh the Jethro Tull... from their first album. I thought to add to the mix after the recent conversations. Same with the Doors.

Really nice, George, top to bottom. And I have no problem with Jethro or the Doors.

Very vivid for us old-timers. I can just imagine listening to all this music while lying on the beach during high school summer vacation.

Agree with Radio Sally, although being thought of as an "old-timer" makes me feel rather curmudgeonly. Great stuff here. (And my twin brother Jeffrey applauds the Tull pick, too.)

Velvets, Fairport, Neil Young, Creedence... all good. Really lush stuff George (goes nice with the Porch mix).

This is SO 1971! Probably better than 1971 was in reality . . . but of course to be true to the spirit of the times you should be stoned while listening . . .

WOW - this is really beautiful. Why does Tull polarize so many people? That's it - a single artist (double disc!) Tull mix is in order. This is 100% great.

excellent for us aged hippies (although I was never a particular fan of this particular Cat Stevens song - reminds me too much of school).

The flow of the mix is the thing... I spent a lot of time tinkering with this one. Much more than usual. The Cat Stevens song was carefully selected because of the way it sounds following the long bombastic ending of Harrison. That piano intro is sublime. It works perfectly and then flows smoothly into the piano build up of Elton John's Tiny Dancer followed by Rod Stewart's cover of another Elton John song. The Cat Stevens ties it all together. The Jethro Tull was added at the last minute and, as I said earlier, in response to some anti-Tull sentiments flying around recently. This song is from the first Tull album back when they were more of a bluesy jam band and really sounds great after the Dead. The first couple of Tull albums have always been my favorites.

That's my favorite Van Morrison song. And the mix isn't bad either. Top Shelf!

I can tell you worked on the f-l-o-w here, George; it looks very graceful; mixes like these remind me of what I listened to a long time ago (college years) before I took up life on the ambient mountain-top...: )

Lots of classic picks here, George. Add me to the pro-early-Tull camp. Nice.

Really nice cover image - and damn fine mix. I'm an "on again, off again" Tull fan. Some times the songs sound silly, and other times the same songs can be pretty cool.

I wasn't even born when this music was made, yet it's still some of my favourite music in life. Funny how that happens. CCR, CSNY, Neil Young, The Band, The Kinks... absolutely fantastic!
