Comment:

Over the last 10 years or so the Dublin I've grown up in has changed dramatically, both socially and economically. As ever there's a rich vein of talented Irish artists making music in the city. This mix is a selection of some of my favourites. Josh Ritter, although not Irish gets an honourable mention for his adopted home.

Hey i did a very similar mix on the same theme: http://www.artofthemix.com/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=68253. I missed out on Mic Christopher and A House (who are they i've never heard of them?) nad left out The Thrills cause i don't like them. Anyway, this looks good.

A House were one of the great lost Irish bands, indie in nature they were big here at home in the late eighties/early nineties. Some great singles, and albums. If you come across 'On Our Big Fat Merry Go Round', 'I Want Too Much' or 'I Am The Greatest' they're worth checking out, see also www.davecouse.com. Mic Christopher, although born in the US was brought up here, was part of the Mary Janes, and very much part of the Dublin music career being good friends with Glen Hansard. He sadly died tragically a year or so back, and his debut solo CD (from where I picked the tracks) was released posthumously, it's a wonderful CD and well worth picking up a copy of.
Took a look at your mix too, we were certainly on similar lines :-)

'part of the Dublin music career' should have read 'part of the Dublin music scene' - mea culpa!
