Comment:

This is a (second) revision of a mix I did a few years back, originally on cassette. I pared down the tracks to those which best fit my idea of the musical feel, but was also able to edit and segue some tracks the way I'd always imagined them flowing but was unable to do with cassette. For example: the floating guitars at the end of the Sin Ropas track bleed perfectly into the opening of the UVS track, and the pulsing drum at the end of the Lilys song matches (close enough to fade out on) the strums that open this version of "Outdoor Miner." My favorite thing, though, was interpolating Neil Young's "Soldier" into the middle of the Labradford track. I took a quiet section of the Labradford track (without the high-pitched, sort of squealing sound that occurs throughout), faded it in and out, and then doubled that with a reversed version of itself to provide a backdrop drone for the Neil Young song. The drone was essentially a D, which works harmonically with the Young track. Basically, about 2/3 through, the Labradford track fades to a drone for a few seconds, which continues while the Young track plays, after which the drone continues as a segue back into the rest of the Labradford track. Given that the two tracks worked unexpectedly well together, I'd always hoped that this mixing of the two would work. It did - except if I did it over, I'd let the drone float a bit longer, and reduce the volume of the Young track relative to the drone just the tiniest bit.

That LaBradford/Neil Young mix does sound intriguing.

Beautiful song picks, with a beautiful cover. It sounds like its not only an aesthetic masterpice, but a technical victory as well. Nicely done.
