Comment:
A double mix for my best friend's birthday. It's actually a double CD, not a cassette. Side 1 is called 'Party' and side 2 'Personal'. I've pulled out a few more unusual tracks for this one. The Wojciech Kilar track is one I've been wanting to use on a mix, but I didn't ever think I could use it to follow 'Leave'. Side 1 rightly hangs around Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Reel Big Fish to bookend; two of the best party bands ever. Hidden in the madness are a couple of really great songs; 'Me in Honey' is a fantastic track and I like the Beatles song. In case you're curious, the Proclaimers choices were picked because I'm a Scotsman in England and there's nothing funnier than a really harsh Scottish accent in a vocal line. I've had a few 'Throw the 'R' Away' encounters with people who couldn't understand my accent. Side 2 is more indulgent and unashamedly sappy. Chris Martin has never sounded better than on 'We Never Change' so I make no apologies for Coldplay's appearance. The Banhart track is simply the best song ever written about love and death, and the Tom Waits track is a nice poignant yet hopeful closer. This took a long time to pick, but hopefully Kate will enjoy it. JamesFeedback:
