Comment:
London is my absolutely favourite city, and so many beautiful songs have been written about it, so here they are. Of course, The Jam, The Clash, and the Smiths just have to be on this CD, and all these well known tunes like "The Streets of London" or "Waterloo Sunset". Most are quite obvious London songs, since they either have "London" or a London place name in their title. Yet, sometimes it's the lyrics: "As I did walk by hampstead fair", "Was it really true there are elephants and lions too, in Piccadilly Circus" ("Mother Goose"), "Your mother she's an heiress, owns a block in St. John's Wood", "Now she gets her kicks in Stepney, not in Knightsbridge anymore" ("Play with Fire"), "Do you remember loving on the floor in Belsize Park" ("Kayleigh"). My London soundtrack :)Feedback:
i thought the joni mitchell track was about the chelsea hotel in new york. regardless, this is an awesome mix!!! a love letter to a wonderful city.
well, it's such a nice song and maybe the hotel is named after chelsea in london ;)))
I'm getting sick of seeing the Kinks, but I like the Cat Stevens and Stones picks.
In a purely helpful way, I don't think Dagenham is in London. It's in Essex.
And The Jam are from Woking and "Going Underground" is not about the tube.

Really nice stuff on both mixes! I've only been there once, but I loved the city.
Mind u...according to the news tonight..as far up as Leicester is being referred to as Greater London!
i thought "going underground" was so associated with london & the tube ... and dagenham actually is a london borough. i cannot be that fussy ;)
Lots o' hair-splitting in these here comments, if you ask me - what's that? - you did't ask me? - oh well -
Damn fine mix - and certainly brings to mind the spirit of the place, even if not geographically correct (yet, I'd take the word of a true blue citizen of the crown like Dom) - London may be my favo(u)rite city - it's at least in the top three...
