Comment:

This is the first in what I hope will be a series of tapes. It was an interesting enough experience just making the one, because it's been about 5 years since I made one and have grown lazy. Making mixes these days consisits of throwing MP3s into Nero and then just hitting burn. Anyway, this baby's for a close friend who (along with me) has recently gotten very heavily into collecting records. So this tape, for her- in the true "High Fidelity" tradition, is a good sampling of the stuff from my vinyl collection that she'd want to call her own.

There is some great songs on here!! And Aladdin Sane is one of those albums that you kinda need to own on vinyl, just for the cover, a CD shrunk version doesn't really do it justice!!

Lord, my CD collection isn't even as good as your vinyl. I feel inadequate. But you should be proud, 'cause this is a dandy little mix you've got here.

High Fidelity is definitely one of my top 5 movies...and many of these songs belong in my all time top 5 records. This is one of the best mix tapes I've seen in a long time. To fully capture the Rob Gordon spirit, you definitely need "Let's Get it On" by Marvin Gaye. Anyway, awesome job.

Good Stuff! Shame they ruined a passable book by re-locating it...though I must admit Cusack was a good choice...I think though you have broken one of Rob's rules: 'You can't have white music and black music together, unless the white music sounds like black music'(Nick Hornby)Nevertheless, a good mix!

Wow, a guy goes for months with nary a comment...but mention "Rob Gordon" in the mix title and the thoughts flow like milk and honey. Go figure. If you haven't already given this one away, I would dig a copy. You have some really nifty threes and fours going on here (ie Mayfield-Jackson-Wonder working well together), and I love that version of "Thunder Road"...of course, no Rob Gordon mix would be complete without that tune! Cheers bro! -Famous.

This comment might be a little late but Famous put you in his "Famous Fever Dogs" exhibition. Check it out. But I have to say this may be a perfect mixtape. A good blend of old and new and songs that aren't so obscure. Great job!

You, you are me. Me, meet you. You go one way with a mix and I go the other. and another shane? how's that "together We're Heavy" sounding on vinyl? I got mine and just haven't got to listen to it. All in all, this rocks my record bag.

I have a couple thousand vinyl LPs going back to the beginning of time. I have been burning tracks from them for a few months with my USB turntable. So I can relate to this very well. I have recreated alot of my hundreds of mix tapes (going back to the mid Seventies) as iTunes playlists as well. It really brings back who I was 25 years ago to recreate those mixes this way. Vinyl rules, digital drools.
