Comment:
A winery outing with everyone this spring led to my discovery that the artist leading the jazz band was playing the song that's on track #1. Greg Howard plays the Chapman Stick and helped Dave Matthews Band early on. So I started this with that in mind, and going from there, with a jam groove going toward a jazz frame of mind. I wish I'd had more room for some jazz standards, but I tend to slip a couple toward the end anyway. Many of these artists were actually conversed upon while listening, drinking, living.*note: really shoulda flipped it all, thrown the Logic, etc. toward the Portishead but the turntable theme needed a break. Regretting that particular Gorillaz track.
The winery was wonderful. Sitting on the side of a virginia mountain, buzzed, eating, laying back, listening to (and picking out, by ear) jazz standards, watching clouds go by you at eye level. Perfect. Except for this: next time, put sunscreen on sooner.
