Comment:
So for the first time in almost ten years, I'm off to The Big Apple. Of course, for any trip, some tunes are required so I made this set of three mixes to take...keep me company on the plane...handy in case there are any delays...and at the ready for any of my wanderings alone around Manhattan. As for the title, when I think New York, I always think of Spike. His films, his personality, his presence on The Knicks sideline. Spike rules. This volume has a theme, these are all NYC artists (case you were wondering why Norah Jones is on the same mix as Interpol). Can't wait to see the NYC skyline from the plane window as these songs blare from my headphones. Cheers! -Famous.Feedback:
The Thrills are from Dublin, though, aren't they? This looks really good, at any rate.
Gadzooks...he's right! I read about a band called "The Thrills"...unbeknownst to me, they were a now defunct act from The 80's. Oh well, nobody's perfect.
GREAT Velvet Underground song! The Spin Doctors just played the next town over around the 4th! That's one of those songs that was spinning in my CD player constantly back in 1995. Some jerk, ex-friend still has my copy of Poe's first CD, so I can't enjoy that song any more. Looks good as always!
Haha you have Cecilia! That really reminds me of a friend who dedicated that to somebody! I like this mix, it will really be something I could listen to while driving. I especially like The Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth and Jon Spencer...very indie rock!
"Fight the Power" should get an honorary spot on any mix referring to Spike Lee (even though it's Philly, blah blah blah).
Love the Strokes-Velvets double shot!!
Love the Strokes-Velvets double shot!!
again, sorry I was so deliquent in commenting. Awesome mix with lots of variety. "California Dreamin'" gets extra props because it reminds me of Chungking Express.
