Comment:

A tribute to Divine and the films of John Waters. Who else could turn a 300 pound transvestite into a star? Who could inject life into the "acting" careers of Patty Hearst, Sonny Bono, Iggy Pop, and Traci Lords? Who could turn Mink Stole and Edith Massey into household words? Who could make Baltimore seem hip? I'm a big fan of the John Waters school of guerilla film-making: the "no budget is good budget" philosophy , the "nothing is sacred" ethos, and most importantly for this mix - the use of soundtrack music as a character in and of itself. Dedicated to Glenn Milstead and other miscreants of film: Richard Kern, Ed Wood, Troma Films, Hershel Gordon Lewis, and so many more "legends".

A great one Sean. John Walters is a fuckin' genius. I've seen every one of his films and they all rock just like this mix. I've passed through Baltimore several times and always seem to look at it as though through the eyes of John Walters and Barry Levinson. I think I scarred my wife forever taking her to see Pink Flamingos on one of our first dates (it was my 3rd time seeing it) and some of those songs; girl can't help it, surfin' bird and of course how much is that doggie in the window, have become permanently associated with that movie in my mind. distorted over the years by the addition of subsequent John Waters films and his use of great rock n' roll.

I met John Waters!
That's it for the bragging... LOVE this mix! I would love to have it; might a trade be arranged?

Only the inimitable Mr. Lally could do justice to John Waters. And the track list is great, great rock 'n' roll, no matter what the excuse for putting them together. .... Er, except maybe for that last one.

I'd eat dog shit to hear this mix! Okay, maybe not -- but this looks mighty impressive. The only thing missing is a pic of the lovely Divine for the cover.

Divine! I just saw the movie "the Cockettes" about the legendary group that inspired Glen Milstead to come out & never look back -- it would go good with this mix.
And I believe Divine would understand your thinking on that last track . . .

This is a great mix. I'm a Waters fan as well--I saw Polyester with the original Odor-ama scratch'n'sniff card during college. You know, it wouldn't have fit real well on this mix, but Waters' use of Barry Manilow's "Daybreak"in Serial Mom is absolutely hysterical.
