Comment:

On May 31st, 2004, Robert Quine, aged 61, killed himself with an extreme overdose of heroin. He had tried to do so before but had failed. As it seems, he didn't want to go on living after his wife, Alice, had died of cancer a few months earlier. So here's a small testament to one of the great guitarists of the past 30 years, a man whose playing, at least to these ears, is almost unmatched in its amalgamation of fury and sensitivity, grittiness and beauty. Small wonder one of his credits reads "pain guitar."
What I wanted to do is present one track by every artist Mr. Quine ever recorded with, and I almost suceeded in doing so, with two exceptions: Japanese artists Sion and Kazuyoshi Saito whose records were simply unattainable (despite the most diligent efforts of Japanese AotMer Jon Neukam whose house I hope is still standing). None the less, I'm indebted to quite a few people for providing some of these tracks, namely Gerry McDonald (Mori/Quine/Ribot, Sonny Vincent, Mikel Erentxun, They Might Be Giants), Curtis Burns (James White, Lys Guillorn), Gerald Jung (Brian Eno and a couple of John Zorn CDs to replace my well-worn vinyl), and Sky Nonhoff (Lydia Lunch). And, needless to say, this is no tape but a double CD set.

This is the kind of mix that makes me feel stupid for having no knowledge whatsoever of the person being honoured. Obviously, I'm not the guitar-god type...
As Dom1 says though: "one helluva CV"!
Kudos to you for taking the time to produce a well rounded tribute.

To echo NoV and Dom, I wish I knew everything here....but yes, the man was amazing. This looks like it took a lot of time and work - very impressive tribute and nicely put together.

Wowza! This is indeed very impressive, Thomas. And on seeing it's realisation, if there is space on the pile this would be more than welcome. Lovely cover, too.

Brilliant tribute to a true original. He had an utterly unique style and great shrill sound that I loved.

Looks like a Quine-tessential mix you've compiled Thom. I didn't realize he had his hand in so many projects. Great work old chum.

Yep..., I'd say you distilled the Quine-tessence of the man onto a dubba' disc..a "sine Quine non" of his works...on der stack. Please.

Pics.
Check mal CHILL BILL VOL.2 & vergleich mal mim OriginalPlakat.

Fantastic. Quine is one of my favorite guitarists of all-time and this really covers it. I'd love a copy of this someday.
