Comment:
16. Is Lumberjack Song auf Deutsch.
Oh, and it may appear I veered a bit with the Cake tune, but they do mention a few careers: "The gravedigger puts on the forceps..." etc.
Feedback:
Holy sheoot, where'd ya find that Hun version of the Lumberjack Song (the 2 or 3 shows they did in German were abysmal, btw)? That Falco thing gimme da creeps, but all in all this is, well, I dunno, quite loverly . . . ? (Hey, NO Cat Stevens!? Well, as it seems, he simply didn't write a song concerning ANY line of work - but he did record a ditty called God was a Doughnut, and f*ck, that deserves SOME respect, doesn't it? ;))
Good follow up Hag & good go with Elvis..Shatner looks fun as does Monty Python! Freakin Gay!
Great mix - just really great - I was singing the XTC song aloud on the way home from work this afternoon - and the Elton John...what a great track - you like Elton as much as me, eh? I've noticed he shows up a LOT in your mixes - needs to show up more in mine, methinks...
Mohr's right, the 2 or 3 German Monty Pythons were pretty awful, but the Lumberjack Song auf Deutsch is a wonderful inclusion on this mix! Otherwise it's indeed a really, really great mix and lots of fun - Falco, XTC and The Simpsons! Cool.
I agree with 12vman, The Elton tune is great and an inspired choice. I also love the Jimmy Webb tune.
Nice.
Very, very cool. Very.
Nice job!
...Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work we go...
Valis made me think that Tom Waits' cover of "Heigh Ho (The Dwarf's Marching Son)" would have been a great inclusion, though this mix is great without it. Some of the choices of career paths ("Dr. Robert," "Sweet Painted Lady," "Just A Gigolo," and "Philadelphia Lawyer" come to mind) are a bit suspect, but hey, who am I to judge? Excellent work here. (BTW: love the Monkees tune!!!)
very nice... some really interesting picks & pairings.
Very nice. Bonus points for the Lee Dorsey and Sam Cooke :)
This is big fun and a cool concept!
Hi NOV - I realize after I sent you the "internal AOTM" system email that that was a change from the way it used to be. I guess now email addresses can be kept private. Let me know if you get this. Did the earlier email attempt come thru? I'll send you the complete Prospero liner notes via email and we can try to come up with a trade. Best, Stevebtw, this looks really good. I love the Armstrong track - nice wit on your part.
I never knew earning a paycheck could be so catchy! Great Monkees pick.
brilliant. Especially dig Elvis, Sam Cooke and John Lennon. Your theme mixes are top-notch, Cruella
