Comment:

A Pogues mix of mine can change a lot depending on what mood I am in on any particular day. I found that this one remains easy to listen to. It has most of my favorite songs. I left out "Fairytale of New York" because I never liked it as much as their other classics. The only two songs that aren't on one of the regular Pogues albums are: "Rake at the Gates of Hell" which is from the "Straight to Hell" soundtrack. I believe Shane re-recorded it with the Popes for one of his albums in the 90s. "The Leaving of Liverpool" is from the "Sally Maclennane" single. Towards the end of the song I am pretty sure it is the late and great Joe Strummer's voice yelling out "We Will Be!". Finally, some people might not like the decision to leave out the tracks the Pogues recorded with the Dubliners. I plan on making a Dubliners mix that will include those classics such as "Jack's Heroes" and "The Irish Rover". Thanks-
Sam

-oh and to one of the people below, I really should have put "Turkish Song of the Damned" on this mix. It just slipped my mind.

Hmm...I would have put "Dirty Old Town" and "Fairytale" on, but that's just me. Quite right though -- the Pogues were, are, and will continue to be wicked awesome.

Shameless plug: If you like the Pogues, check out Flogging Molly. I am not a member of the band but I've seen them live and I figure it's the next best thing to seeing Shane et al. live.

top class. the fact that you cut out two of my favs (thousands are sailing and the turkish song of the damned) and yet still leave enough to blow me away is pretty cool.
