Comment:
The story of a friend's recent journey. Not so long ago, she became incurably tired of everything and everyone in her hometown, and decided to take off for Korea to teach English. Side one finds her realizing that she's stuck in a rut in her hometown and needs to get away, and follows the short-lived hopefulness that she found when she got to Korea. On the second side, she comes to terms with how lonely she is - she realizes the 'grass is always greener' and that she doesn't need to head to the other side of the world to change things. As the tape ends, she is heading back home to Canada. I gave this tape to her upon her return, along with a bound copy of the daily emails she sent while she was away.Feedback:
Wow! You never see "Strangers" on a mix. She's so young is also a good choice.
This is a very, very, beautiful mix with a very tender purpose. It strikes a chord for me, because about a year and a half ago I was close to doing the same thing. In the end, I'm happy i didn't. 'Specially like seeing "Falling Down Blue" on this disc. I haven't heard that tune in years, but it instantly gives me the sense of longing and lonliness you're going for with this mix. Cheers! -Famous.
