It’s no surprise that D12’s scrappy, tendon-tearing “Fight Music” single is one of many standout tracks on the Deep Cuts end of our Dr. Dre Productions Essentials. After all, it’s more than just a straight-up banger; it’s a mission statement, a restless reminder of the shoot-first-and-ask-questions-later approach Dre brings to his beats. That goes for everything from the spine-tingling simplicity of “Kill You” to the gothic G-funk of “Natural Born Killaz.” And then there’s the one and only N.W.A., as heard atop the low rider-ready loops of “Alwayz Into Somethin’” and the asphalt-scarring, funk-scored chase scene that is “100 Miles and Runnin’.”
