Comment:

"Yeah, we've got both kinds of music - country and western."
Inspired by some recent Texas Hobart mixes. More western than country. More country than urban. More urban than grits. More Austin than Nashville.

Always love any mix that highlights how Austin is superior to Nashville. Love having Steve Earle, followed by Townes, followed by Guy. I don't know if I could listen with a dry eye.

Looks fantastic - nice cover art too. I especially like the Robert Earl Keen, Townes van Zandt and Jimmy Buffett. And I have that Bill Bragg & Wilco song stuck in my head now. Which is a good thing. :)

Ah mon ami we're on the same wavelength at the moment, though I have to say this looks much better than my recent rather lame effort. - Let me know what I can send you in return Joe.

I, too, have Jimmy Buffett issues like George E, but nearly any song can work in the right context. And this seems like a great context ... especially the art!

People either love or hate Buffett, it seems - there's rarely an in-between. I like pretty much everything he's ever done (though, his best stuff was done in the 70's), but then again, I fancy myself a beach bum transplanted in the frosty north. Just a word of explanation here (reason for inclusion of 2 trax) - "15 Gears" is a western swing instrumental based on the tune of "Wonder Why You Ever Go Home," a much slower and meditative tune. They act as nice bookends is all. b/t/w - both Buffett trax come from the Rancho Deluxe OST - a very western-sounding project that has nothing to do w/the beach or tequila drinks.

Well, count me among the Buffett haters. The rest of this mix is fantastic, though. Especially dig the Costello (from just outside Austin ;-), Haggard, Earle, van Zandt and Guy Clark. Hop along little doggy.

I absolutely loathe Buffett with every fibre of my being, but, like Curtis said, the rest is superb.

Great, great, great! And as far as Jimmy B. goes -- well, he was one of the first people I ever saw in concert (waaaaaay back in the 70s), and the audience was 1/2 stoners and 1/2 C&W lovers. He fits in just fine.
