Comment:
No Lucky Thompson, which I regret. No Wayne Shorter, which I don't. The soprano sax is a harsh mistress, and I wish all the tenor and alto players would put it down and concentrate on their main horns. Unless their name is Kenneth Gorelick, in which case, they should draw a hot bath, slit their wrists and bleed to death.Feedback:
No Sidney Bechet? Both Coltrane and Lacy cite him as influences.
Oh yeah, Coltrane sends me.
Extremely cool. Love that Potts/Lacy/Watts/Parker pick in particular, but, uhm, no Branford Marsalis ;-?
Don't hold back, Nick - tell us how you really feel ;-) - fine stuff here.
Cool mix. Saw Braxton perform with a whole array of saxes from the soprano to a gigantic contra-bass sax. Similar assortment of clarinets too. Wild stuff.
Excellent mix, Nick. Like the comments :)
I agree with your soprano comments 100%. This looks like the best possible soprano mix that I could imagine, though.
