Comment:

In two decades at the topmost rung of the country-music ladder, Alan Jackson has made some high-powered friends, and they haven’t been shy about showing up to sing alongside him. Jackson and George Strait showed there’s still no better basis for a country tune than a lovesick fool taking his sorrows for a swim, on the duet “Designated Drinker.” Jackson joined Keith Whitley in bringing a new slant to the world of country Christmas tunes, crooning about a certain surprise package that once arrived in Bethlehem on “There’s a New Kid In Town.” And you know you’re a full-fledged country superstar when you get to revisit a George Jones classic right along with Ol’ Possum himself, like Jackson did with the tear-jerking Jones gem “A Good Year for the Roses.”
