When Randy Newman wrote "I Love LA," he purposely glorified some of the city's less-exotic thoroughfares (Victory Blvd., 6th St., etc.) rather than going the Rodeo Drive/Sunset & Vine route. And how could, say, Rosemary Clooney wax poetic about the City of Angels without mentioning glorious Hollywood? She couldn't.
