I've been listening to Jen's Portishead CDs a bit lately, so I decided to do a quickie single-artist comp for the car, supplementing the Portishead tracks with selections from Beth's next project (which is actually my CD, not Jen's). She really does have a lovely, expressive voice and her former bandmates Barrow & Utley aren't bad arrangers, either. Last track cut: "Funny Time of Year."

Beautiful. I absolutely adore Portishead, and, while I know Dummy like the back of my hand, it's nly really recently that I've started to get really into Portishead too. Unfortunately I don't have Beth Gibbons and Rustin Man's CD, but my flatmate has...so I'll be borrowing it a lot, methinks! I'm glad you have Western eyes on there, by the way, and Elysium too.

Hadn't thought of this band in awhile. Loved that first LP, but hated the second & never heard the solo stuff. Must go back & reassess.

Love your choices. Haven't heard Gibbons-Rustin Man, but if the those two tracks fit in on this mix, I'll have to seek it out.
