Comment:

A fairly extensive revision of my "Under your breath, over your shoulder" mix posted on 1/6/02. After buying this band's recently-released box set and watching the documentaries on its attendant DVD, I remembered just how much I love the shivery stilness of this band. In contrast to my normal approach, I am not deleting my old version of this mix due to its historical importance in my world (it was made when my grandfather passed away and I found myself listening to nothing but this band). Last tracks cut: "Back Home Again", "Fear", "Be There" and "(That's How You Sing) Amazing Grace."

I'm a little low on my personal 'Low' collection but what I know I love.

I don't know Low, so I can't make a judgement!

Can't say I cared much for Low or any of that sadcore/slowcore stuff except in very small doses but of course it depends on your state of mind.

Isn't that box set great? A year or so ago I saw that they had contributed a version of "Surfer Girl" to some compilation and had been desperately tracking it down since. So I was pleased when that set came out. Nice summary of the band.

recently made a low retrospective for my pal VALIS, and there are quite a few common tracks between our mixes. (sorry to see time is the diamond didn't make the cut, though). didn't know about the box set, but having all their albums (including owL and bombscare) i probably won't be purchasing, despite what are probably some cool rarities. nice work!

I've got all of their records, too (except that remix disc that does not interest me in the least). Nothing from Songs for a Dead Pilot, Christmas or In the Fishtank made the cut, though, I'm sorry to say. I'm going to bet that you haven't got all of their singles (all b-sides are on the box), hard-to-find comp tracks, and demos, though, so you may want the box. There are no repeated tracks between the albums and the box set.

Oh, wonderful; I find that Low have much the same effect on me as Massive Attack - I go through stages where I can listen to their stuff over and over, and then I won't listen to them for a while, and so, when I return to them, I get into them even more - if that makes sense. Your comments on the sentiments behind the original are also really nice.
