Comment:
This is a mix saluting an amazing performer who transcended his "musician" tag and became something of a prophet for many, many people worldwide. Due to space considerations (and the fact that I couldn't leave any of these songs out), I had to edit a couple of minutes from the end of "He Miss Road", as well as 30 or so seconds from the end of "Opposite People" and the short spoken introduction to "J'ehin J'ehin." Thanks to lo-fi for some of this material. There may be a second volume.Feedback:
there must be a second volume ;), great music from a great guy
I'll second what P said!
Glad to see you're fully turned onto this giant, Rob. If there was such a thing as Afro-punk Fela would be it. An early submission of mine was a comp that I've been meaning to redo on CD. Just can't imagine what to cut.
I know of him, his reputation but I've never heard him....possibly due to the fact that any CD I've seen by him seems to contain about 3 tracks and I find that off putting...which is probably my loss and next time I see a CD by him I'll give it a listen!
An artist I've always admired but not one I've listened much to. I should pick up some of his CDs.
superb!
Awesome stuff.
Likewise I need to listen more - but this looks great, and what a great choice to make.
Nice. But I prefer his drummer.
I'm vaguely aware of the man's work - but should give him a try, I think...
