Comment:
My personal favorites from one of rock's unluckiest artists... not only was he one of Mickie Most's only flop performers in his original, teenaged incarnation, but he turned down the vocal spot for Led Zeppelin (although he recommended both Plant and Bonham to Mr. Page) and killed the momentum that he'd acquired as the opening act on the Stones' '69 U.S. tour by fighting Most for his artistic freedom in court until 1973. This collection spans 1966-1975. It's my understanding that he's only released two records since that are not in the same style of his early work. Last track cut: "Things to Try."Feedback:
Super Lungs: The Complete Studio Recodings 1966-69 is a great place to start with Mr Reid! Good stuff.
Looks good, Rob. I've got a couple of his LPs. The one with "Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace" is excellent.
Interesting. I love Reid's version of "Bang Bang" (and have been planning on using it on a mix myself), but I don't know much beyond that one album.
I haven't heard very much of this artist, Rob, but I must congratulate you on the diversity of your single artist mixes. The fact that I would rather trade with you to check out an artist I'm not terribly familiar with, rather than purchase a compilation, is a testament to your mixmaking ability.
Interesting guy. I've only heard a small portion of his stuff.
I know very little by Mr. Reid as his stuff is difficult to locate in my neck of the woods. Looks intriguing.
After years of passing over used Terry Reid LPs or confusing him with Terry Riley I finally got him after MOJO began mentioning him in every issue. Good picks from what I know so far. Further advanced education is welcomed.
Wow - I was just reading about him and was kinda curious as to how he stacked up against his "legend". Save me a copy, eh?
New to me Rob, any chance of enlightening me via a trade?
I've always been interested in him, too. Looks good.
Great mix.I was just about yo do a Terry Reid mix. You've beat me to it.
