Comment:
A superb band out of North Carolina playing mildly psychedelic mellow pop tunes best described simply as languid. Very, very languid. Though they've got some of that stylized Brian Wilson-infused 60's pop sound found in various Elephant 6 type bands, the real comparison here is Pink Floyd -- specifically, the post-Barrett, pre-Dark Side Of The Moon albums of space-folk (i.e Obscured By Clouds, More, Meddle). Soothing acoustic guitars, subtle harmonies here and there, twangy slide guitar accents, and nary a hint of distortion (until their most recent album, which gets a bit more busy and frenetic in spots). Great stuff all around.
Feedback:
Never heard of them but they sound interesting. I'll check them out.
Just what Salman1 says. I've never seen you do a mix I didn't like Marc, and this looks interesting.
I'm batting on the same team as the previous 2 here? But The Kingsbury Manx sound as if they'd be right up my street!
The Kingsbury Manx?? You got me scratching.
Your description is perfect - they are a pretty amazing band. I still haven't picked up the first 2 records, but the last album was high on my top 2003 best-of list and the EP was even better ("Half Man" is my fave song I've heard by them).
These guys sound like they are right up my alley...interested in a trade?
I really like the sound of these guys - I'll have to check them out.
They ring a bell..but I wouldn't know a Manx track if I heard it...interesting!
Marc! You're incredible! You know that Kingsbury Manx is one of my very favorite bands, and I think it's great that this mix is giving some people the idea to go seek them out. In case you don't know, by the way, there is a live Kingsbury Manx concert at emusic.com!
