Comment:

Another "for-the-hell-of-it"/"for-the-car" mix, in much the same vein as my last one. Yes, some of these picks are far from obscure, but they are either things I've been playing obsessively (the Libertines, Galaxie 500, Rockpile, Herman's Hermits, the Monkees--the latter thanks to buglady's discs and the resulting discussion), playing frequently (Low, the Go-Betweens, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Sonny Sharrock), have heard often at work (the Clash), have been in my head as a result of conversations with others (Guns N' Roses, the Beastie Boys), have recently purchased/acquired (Katrina and the Waves, War, the remastered Brian Eno, Johnny Cash, Little Richard), or were just otherwise in the mood for come mixing time (Alex Chilton, the Mamas and the Papas, the Animals, Aztec Camera). Thanks to lo-fi for the out-of-print Sonny Sharrock track. Title from Roddy Frame's fine tune.

Damn fine mix yet again. Great Rockpile pick. What's with the "Walking On Sushine" tag at the end of my favorite Kimberly Rew song? Is it because it appeared on THAT album or is this a medley of some sorts?

Dale: Yeah, because it's from that album and not the American (re-recorded) Katrina and the Waves self-titled release.

Me gusta --especially the AC, Hermits and the Monkees selection. Never heard the the original version of Liverpool. Is it better than the Bangles cover?

Really, really great stuff, Rob. Katrina and the Waves are aces and that's probably my favorite G'n'R song. Awesome.

I'm a bit late in commenting here Rob, I'm afraid! But oh what a nice Beasties pick - also love the Clash, Go-Betweens and lovely to see Galaxie 500 there too. And hey, who cares about obscurity if it sounds wonderful? :)
