Comment:
My roommate requested a Dylan mix from me. At first, I went about it the usual way: picking the standards to give a good crosssection of his career, but then I realized that I know my rommate's tastes fairly well and could probably make something that hit home a bit more. Therefore, going on his tastes - which start with a heavy devotion to the Smiths - and given that his is in the middle of a battle of hearts shall we say, I decided to make a mix about Dylan the romantic. The downside is that I had to stay away from Highway 61 and The Basement Tapes for the concept to work. Side A is subtitled "The Sir In Love Again" and contains songs about being in love or humorous looks at love. Side B is subtitled "The Sir Outside Her Window" and it is more sad songs about love lost.Feedback:
I think you absolutely nailed it. Side One has three of my very favourite songs - and I'm a major Smiths fan too. Without getting out the reference books, the only thing I might add would be "Queen Jane Approximately", but perhaps only because I love it and always couple it up with "Absolutely Sweet Marie" when I "do" Dylan.
