Comment:

the title comes from a discussion with an old friend, and we both agree, that the best albums have 10 - 12 songs on them, beyond that it is just to much music, you won;t get throught it all without becomming bored. mp3's ipods what have you are killing not the industry but the artist, no one listens to a full song anymore, its always skip to this part, skip that song, why do i have this.. get back to basics.. the double LP is indulgent, not creative.. in most cases.

so i figured lets have a nice simple cd one that everyone can enjoy, it may be the shortest mix cd you have, but with the tracks it will be your most played.

comments are not only welcomed but encouraged.

i know people that will skip through an LP or an album just as much as they would music on an iPod. it's not so much the format of the music, more the quality of it. if you don't like a song enough, you aren't going to listen to it. it's not that you're letting the music industry down, actually quite the opposite. you have no obligation to listen to all the songs on a CD if they do not interest you. too many artists have only a few really great, quality songs on an album, the rest is all filler crap. THAT'S what's killing the art of music. i can think of MANY awesome double LP's on which i adore each and every song- how is that indulgent? The Who's "Tommy", The Rolling Stones' "Hot Rocks", Jesus Christ Superstar, The Beatles' "White Album"- again, it's the quality of the music, not the format that matters. Artists who can create a double LP that will hold your attention through every song are much more than "indulgent", they are simply proving their creative genius.

but overall, this mix is alright. good sonic youth and melvins choices. i might skip through this CD simply because i passed out of my Seattleite phase after about 10th grade. it's nothing personal.
