Comment:

The mid-1970's lull before the storm that would be the late 70's Punk & New Wave scene. Actually I wasn't listening to a lot of rock music then except for some of this stuff here. It was more of a time to explore blues, jazz, reggae and other forms of music. On the cover: me on top of the world in 1975. Check out the Zappa beard.

Smokin' mix George, laughed when I saw Peter's comment cos soon as I saw Zappa on the mix I thought it would invoke a comment from him. What peak are you on?

Love this to the moon and back! I had completely forgotten about 'roll away the stone'. Fantastic.
I'm a couple of years younger than you, so in 1975 was still into Sweet, Slade, Deep Purple, Rainbow et al. Excellent.

I was a big, big Zappa fan as a teenager and in 1967 I bought Freak Out before Sgt. Pepper with my hard earned cash. I saw him in concert many times in those early years. Awesome. And Santana... saw them lots too but as good as the first three albums were nothing prepared me for the jazz based intensity of the Caravanserai/Welcome/Borboletta trio of albums followed by the Japanese only import live Lotus. I was listening to a lot of that era Santana by 1975.

George, you're speaking my language. First, you start out with a cut from my all-time favorite Bowie album, you move Santana (never go wrong there!), plus you include many other from my personal rock-n-roll pantheon, including Capt. B, Todd, Tom W., T. Rex, the Stones, and a great BB&A cut. But the top is Zappa -- a personal hero. I love the cut and was fortunate to see him play it live on one of his last tours. I love this stuff.

I started out as a punk kid an didn't investigate these bands until college and beyond, but you've got many of my faves here. ELO has always been a fave of mine and you nailed one of the best Waits songs that never gets old to me. The only things not kicking my ass here are the U Heap (never checked them out beyond classic radio and I dont recall liking or disliking them) and the Zappa (I'm pretty selective in my post-Weasels Zappa and Apostophe doesn't do it for me).

Lots to love and hate! Love the pic, Stones, T-Rex, Waits, Roxy And Bowie. I'm not sure how I feel re:Rundgren...Zappa only occasionally does it for me...Steely Dan I can't abide...ELO I've never heard..Mott's good as are Free....Tull I'm not sure...a great mix to discuss, here George!

Thio I'd certainly enjoy life in a world where Santana, the Heep, Jethro Tull and, most of all, the Rolling Stones didn't exist, I think the rest of this is pure, unadulterated fun . . .

What peak? Dunno. Traveled a lot that summer. Somewhere in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This picture was recently rediscovered in a shoe box by my daughter. Guilty pleasures on this mix for sure.

Yup, as was mentioned, you totally nailed one of Waits' best tracks - and it's really perfect for this mix. I am a big, big fan of late 70s stuff, I have to admit, but this is all really good - love the T.Rex and ELO too.

Hey hippie! Great tunes here - I'll give a thumbs-up for that Tull song. Tull is too often maligned, and they were a really great group for at least 10 years. And yes, the Tom Waits song is a classic. Good stuff

A wee bit of a chunk of my youth here. Especially the Bowie, Rundgren, Beefheart and Mott the Hoople. Excellent. Great picture too. And I'm with Mohr on the Rolling Stones...off with their heads ;-!
