Comment:

This year, for the first time, both of my daughters are away at college (one at Case Western in Ohio; the other at Clark University in Massachusetts). Despite years of complaining about my music, each of them took with her a sizable chunk of my CD collection (temporarily!). So, for this mix, I tried to dig a little deeper for some of those dusty CD's and songs that I just don't seem to listen to very much these days. (However, behind these I spied an even dustier pile of CD's I've hardly ever listened to, so there may be a Volume Two one of these days...)

I absolutely love the Joe "King" Carrasco to Junior Brown, and that Was (Not Was) track has always been a favorite of mine. (My ex-wife's name is Doris.) Plus loving the John Prine, Charlie Rich, Jr. Walker, Kinky, and Barrence Whitfied/Tom Russell together is very intriguing indeed! Excellent!!!!!

Nice to see the shamefully neglected Syd Straw on a mix. Excellent work.

I know what you mean about teenage daughters! My daughter was grimacing when I had Hank Williams on the car cd player yesterday, but I see her furtively stealing some of my cds from time to time. They just don't like to admit that we dads have the "knowledge"! :-) Great mix, as ever Mark.

I think it did indeed take me until after my teenage years to discover that my dad really did have "the knowledge"! Love the mix, especially The Derailers and John Prine.

didn't 'was (not was)' do somethingabout a dinosaur? I seem to remember playing pool to that back in the late 80s. Love almost anything by the mad professor and lee perry, so it has to be a great mix.

Wonderful. Love the Charlie Rich and Syd Straw track in particular. Now, as far as letting your kids take a chunk of your CDs...well, I'm all for makin' sacrifices for your children, but... ;-)
