Comment:
This was quite an undertaking, not necessarily in terms of results, but in terms of labor. It took three drafts to get it to its present state, but I think I'm finally happy with it. All I can say is that it flows much more coherently than you think it does (and track 4 reflects my life at the moment--I'll finally be starting a job on October 6th that pays me a decent salary). Thanks to buglady for her fantastic Lovin' Spoonful mix. Title from the Iggy track.Feedback:
Congratulations! Great mix, Rob. I especially like your David Crosby pick.
Cool! I was going to use that Badfinger track on my next pop mix - it's just so great. First 3 songs are top notch openers, and I really dig that Polyphonic Spree tune, even though the rest of the record doesn't do as much for me as their first one did.
Aces! Really fond of the Mummies (what a monsterously huge riff!), Badfinger, and Divine Comedy. -Dale
Congrats! A good lookin mix here, Rob!
I love loads of this. That lovin spoonful track was a favourite of mine while at school (and still remains so). Loads of other goodies that I like here. Fun!
No licence then you're banned b4 you even start Rob! Love the look of this, nice one.
Nice. So many great picks.
This looks fantastic!
well revolution no 9, otherwise I can imagine a great flow, congrats to a the new job
yes indeed Congratulations! interesting mix also!!!!
Totally awesome mix, I love it, especially the badfinger, lovin' spoonful and temptations.
I like the looks of 1-7, & I can see the logic of most of the rest, but that George Jones track really throws me for a loop. I guess the David Crosby track (which I don't know) must set it up . . . ?
Very cool Rob. Love that George Jones through Radiohead stretch especially. And congratulations of course. Here's hoping the work doesn't feel like a job.
I like all of this Rob. A good lesson in eclectic mixmaking.
To joey: yes, the Crosby track (which is a wordless, one-and-a-half-minute piece of overdubbed vocalizing that comes to a majestic fade just prior to George Jones) sets up the Jones weeper. To Curtis: Thanks! That's my favorite stretch, mixing-wise, as well. To Jana: That's great, since it was the last piece of the mixing puzzle that I added to make this work. Thanks to all for your comments, too.
Very cool apu. Possibly my favourite Streets track. My current mix is on about its twentieth draft... expect to see it in November some time...
Livin' it up! My fave drum solo (always found Tommy's four tom-tom hits to be inspirational)& two heads I've been on the verge of using myself (talking & radio). Much more to love here also with Iggy, Germs & the Spoonful. Glad to hear things are looking up too, Rob. You'll have to fill me in sometime soon.
A bit late here Rob, but this looks fantastic! Nice little Lovin' Spoonful - Oasis stretch there. I keep thinking I'm not giving Randy Newman enough listening time as well. Love the Divine Comedy track too - all in all, very nicely put together!
