Comment:

One of those truly random mixes I put together for my brother in Chicago once or twice a year, collecting the odds & ends I've picked up in recent months -- some new releases, some reissues, some oldies I finally got around to getting on cd, etc. This time around I tossed in a couple random mashups I downloaded, violating 2 of my most important mix-making rules (never use mp3's, and never use teenybop Top 40), but, hey, keeps things interesting.

The Clash mixes come from an effort by multiple people to remake the entire London Calling album; not surprisingly, it's hit or miss, though the Christina Augilera over "The Card Cheat" is huge fun. Here's a link: http://patrese4.valuehost.co.uk/download.htm

Really cool - is that Uncle Tupelo a Soft Boys cover? (If so, how cool.) Like the Grandaddy too and the Talking Heads.

It does indeed look a load of fun..I've never used MP3's but I don't see the harm in it..if it's in The Top 40 and I like it I'll use it...a good lookin' mix!

This looks like a lot of fun....MP3's are ok only if the sound quality is there in my humble opinion.

Rebelliously good! Those arbitrary rules we set for ourselves are made to be broken. Mixes are always the better for it.

Looks like you've packed in some good stuff on this one. I don't think I've ever made a mix that didn't include at least one mp3, but I'm a poor starving artist.

to quote George W. in his plaintive whine, "it's hard work" but somebody's gotta do it. Nice mix.
