A little gimmicky but also kind of fun.
a brilliant idea, Joe. I was figuring something similar for reggae and psychedelia! I bet this sounds great cos I love all the stuff here
Mississippi John Hurt to Maria Callas to Lightin' Hopkins. You GET this mix thing, you really understand!
Introducin' sum cultcha ter uz here eh Joe! TrTs bonne indeed mon ami.
Lookin' good, Joe !
I have been tainted by TV, and every time I hear opera, I picture gangsters being gunned down in slow motion. Esp. Pagliacci. Not that this is a bad experience for me...
Yes Randy - the mob hit images do pop up occassionally for me too - but the power and beauty of that Paliacci piece trump the overplay/connotation for me every time. Thanks all for the comments.
Fantastic! Love your picks and the images they conjure up (for me, opera occasionally brings up the image of Robert de Niro being punched in slow motion, but anyway). The extract from Carmen -> end stretch is really beautiful, and you can't go wrong with the Flower Duet, even though those British Airways advertising types spoiled it for everyone. Bastards. Nice mix!
nice to see RL Burnside. looks great all around too!!!
Crazy. This looks pretty damned amazing.
I don't know nuthin' 'bout no opera, but this is a great idea.
This is incredible. What an idea!
Excellent Joe!! We should do our first trade. I did some cutting and editing of the beloved Flower Duet on the Camping on the Couch mix.
Great idea.
Works for me. Especially the Mississippi John Hurt -> Callas -> Hopkins, which I just took for a test drive. Wonderful Joe.
wowsie wowsie wowsie. This is my kind of mix!
Standing Ovation!
