Upon its release, only 500 copies of 1999's [i]Brothers & Sisters[/i] EP were issued, which makes the lead track, "Brothers and Sisters," at once a diamond in the rough and a telling insight into the band's origins: the uplifting melancholy and delicately layered song structures are highly effective even at this primitive stage in the band's development. Almost a decade down the road, the Coldplay production line is struggling to cope with the strain of 2008's magnificent [i]Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends[/i] — lay your soul on the thermal currents of "Lovers in Japan" and feel the upward surge.
