Comment:

The subtitle should be something like "21st Century Mixoid Man." These are, for the most part, my favorite songs from this decade thus far (now that we're almost five musical years in)... or at least my favorite songs from my very favorite albums from this decade plus a couple of wildcards (the New Pornographers, whom I like but don't love, are the most notable; I'm not much of a Ryan Adams fan anymore, although I love Heartbreaker as much as ever; and Bright Eyes has begun to leave me cold, despite my continued appreciation of Fevers & Mirrors and its surrounding ep's ). It's sad to see that some of my favorite modern bands--Dirty Three, Songs:Ohia, the Magnetic Fields, Will Oldham in all of his various guises, to name a few--didn't quite make the cut, mostly because I wanted to keep the mix moving along at a brisk rate. Last tracks cut: Radiohead's "Optimistic" and Black Lipstick's "White Jazz." Title from the Shins song--definitely my favorite song of the new millennium (although if I had to pick a second it would be "Barely Legal"). One of the most interesting things about this mix, btw, is that it would sound almost exactly as good if the songs were arranged in reverse order. [I revised this track listing on 12/3/04.]

This is pretty nice. Some really nice picks like the Great Lakes, Sentridoh, Shins and Of Montreal.

This is one fantastic mix! And I agree with you on that Shins song, my absolute favorite song by them thus far.

I like that you mention the last tracks cut (not sure if anyone else has mentioned it). Kudos for that and the as-always awesome mix, Rob.

Some ace choices Master C! Sadly, I'm unfamiliar with a number of the above, as I've been discovering mostly 60s pop for the last several years. When we trade again in 2007, you'll have to include this.

Lots to love here, and apologies for the late comments! This is a very nice "summary" of the decade - the Wilco pick is, of course, excellent, as are the Furries, Shins and Wainwright picks. I would sit and wax lyrical about the decade for a bit longer , but I have to go to German class. But nice mix! (And good B & S pick too :) )

I am SO pleased to see that Okkervil River made the cut on this mix. You picked a lot of my favorites -- whee yay to your B&S, Rufus, Bright Eyes, Shins, Wilco, and White Stripes picks.
