Explanations For Songs 1-5

Tonight, Tonight: This song has very similar string arrangements to the original "Thesis of the Cruel Angel", and the lyrics give a feeling of hope and growth which foreshadow later events in the series.

Daddy: This song establishes the depressing themes of neglect and hate that continue for the rest of Evangelion. It is also good for representing the renewed hate between Shinji and his father.

The Leper Affinity: This song is a perfect example of darkness and light, contrasting the death metal movements of the song with acoustic sections. This parallells episode 3, which features a bloody angel battle, but also humourous scenes. The lyric "Grow together, with our sin" also fits well with Shinji and Misato living together, as they will have to accept each other's sins and faults.

Back to School: An easy song choice. Shinji goes back to school, and is the "Leader of All" due to his fight with the angel.

Inertiatic ESP: The opening wail of "Now I'm lost" fits with Shinji running away from home. The song also features vivid imagery which is similar to the experiences of Shinji at school, NERV, and even at the movies.
