Comment:

Yeah, I just finished coming up with my 500 favorite songs of all time. Pretty heavy task (I've been chipping away at it for a few years now), not to mention pointless. Anyway, I thought I'd clog up the Find a Mix list for the next day or so by listing it all out. This is just my 500 faves as of this moment, however. I expect it to fluctuate and change dramatically over the years. There's no way to truly "finish" something like this, so I just had to stop at some point and do a snapshot of what it looks like. Obviously viewers will find tons of songs they think are crappy, subpar, or in some way unworthy of being called a favorite anything, but every song on here has some special meaning to me; either that, or they just sound so damn ass fucking cool that they've taken on a sense of royalty in my heart. Now, time to rock 'n' roll...

Good lord man... 500 songs?

I hope you were able to maintain a normal level of sanity.

I know I wouldn't have been able to.

Gosh! This is an ace idea too, and I admire you for actually going through with it. It must've taken/be taking loads of work. Good for you!

How did you judge which song(s) you liked best. What makes #1 better than #345. Do you have any set criteria or was it a random listing?

The ranking is partly what took me so long. Yeah, arguably much of it IS random, but I've done my best to determine that I like each higher song better than the ones below it. For example, all the songs in the 400s are definitely in a lower echelon than those in the 200s - the differences all being relative and not very significant, admittedly, but still, I made an effort...and the top 100 is absolutely in order.

Looks like this will take you a few decades, good luck. A great idea though, even if I probably never could get the motivation to do this.

A fucking mad concept cos by the time you've finished unless you're a sad bastard the list should remain constantly fluent! Not meaning to be over critical; me & Gobi did a top 20 tracks of all time for each other some 5/6 years ago & if his 20 pics are the same (even though he's my best mate) I'd shoot the f*****. Still I admire the effort that goes into such a concept, peace, love, happiness - Cliff.

There's just something about it, but I LOVE "Caress Me Down" (so much more now that I've taken a yr of Spanish and understand more of what they're saying.. lol). And ROBYN!? Seriously, who else has he on their list -- you're awesome. She was totally the best one-hit-wonder song on the Much Dance 1997 cd I bought!
