Comment:

Pretty lame, right? I ruin everything with my own impenetrable, nostalgia-addicted psyche. Oh, and the fact that I'm a dyed-in-the-wool "Buffy" disciple. Nevertheless, there it is. Big projects always seems smaller afterwards, for some reason...hmph.

5 stars for the full set. Fantastic achievement, I'll do it one day. And yes, The OMWF soundtrack is brilliant. Amber Benson and ASH - how lovely.

A herculean effort, and while I'm appreciative of that, and the fact that there are some gems in your top 30 (Don't Worry Baby, Basket Case, You Don't Know How it Feels), there are some peculiar entries here. For example, Josie and the Pussycats? Simple Minds? That godawful Dirty Dancing song? I would find it easy to put that stuff in my worst 30 song list.

My favorite song from that episode is "Life's a show" or whatever it's called but I like "drawn to the fire" too. Interesting pics!

Actually, based on what you said, I'd like to see you do a bottom and/or top 30 songlist, Teefus. And I don't mean that in an arrogant jerk way; I'm actually spiritedly curious. I always find it interesting that many of the things found on people's Worst Of lists are those which I myself happen to like. Guess it proves I have bad taste. Still, I love seeing other Best/Worst lists (Best because it's interesting to know what somebody treasures above all else), so if you ever have the inclination to make one, I'd be very excited to see it and tell you what I think :)

I'm sure you have spawned many a list with this, including mine. Thanks for the inspiration.

Kudos for the time and engery spent on this. There is no way I could ever pull this off. As far as indivual choices-If you like a song it is good. If you don't it's bad. Music is very personal and don't ever doubt what you feel.

An impossible task (for me anyway),but it's got me thinking.

holy crap! This is quite a task - one I could never (or really would never) want to take on - there's just too much! And what happens when a new favorite shows up knockin'?!?! ARGGHHHH!
Nice job, though!

oh no, must not make another list... I'm a sucker for making lists like these. I already did one for modern rock of the 80s & 90s, which if anyone wants to see, is on my webpage on my profile. except I had 1000 songs... even 500 didn't seem like enuff, & that's not even including all the other kinds of music I like!! it was done over years too... but yah, it is a reflective, nostalgic trip, & that's the purpose! I agree with hemizen, don't doubt how you feel!

Mike, go ahead and check out my "Bad Songs" mix I posted a week or two ago. It's not quite in order, nor does it total 30, but it is representative of what I feel is some pretty lame music. I'm curious as to your thoughts on the mix, good, bad, or indifferent. Expressions of opinions, that's what these feedback postings are for. Another thing: bad is not always bad, sometimes bad is good.

These are great songs to have in a top 30. The Selena/TMBG/Green Day segue is a wonderful highlight.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Once More with Feeling.
You are quite simply the most awesome person every...despite the lameness that is the Buffy Musical. Cudos on your grand list, I would never even be able to attempt it.

Shoulda seen it earlier...thought most of these wouldn't come in my top 25, I do dig some of these (Tom Petty, Green Day stuff, etc.), and I'm not so keen on the Josie and the Pussycats, but whatever you like is cool. A noble undertaking...not for anyone with ADD.

Okay, so I loved Buffy just as much as the next 15-yr-old girl did (that was until I discovered ALIAS & the fact that girls kicking ass could be government sanctioned) but you put the soundtrack to that musical show as your FAVOURITE song/cd of ALL TIME? Oh, how sorry I feel for you. You have some pretty good taste other than that though. (even if i DO feel only lukewarm about your top 30). I can't wait to peruse the next 470! ;)

mike, this is fucking impressive. buffy as #1 is classic. going thru the motions is my track of choice, but theyre all so good arent they? anyway, i love this list (what ive seen of it so far anyway) because its just HONEST. its unpretentious and doesnt care about the same artist having songs near to each other. were a magazine to do a list like this, it would probobly have smells like teen spirit as number two and imagine as number one, and while i guess theres nothing wrong with that, id much rather read this list. cheers!

Man alive, this was a huge task. Fair play to you, this is/was obviously exactly as you felt and not what you thought other mixers would want to see. For what it's worth 29,28 & 26 would figure highly in any run-down of mine. I love the Josie & The Pussycats film but I've never seen an episode of buffy so I don't know that at all. May download it just to see for myself. I'd be interested to see if this has changed drastically in the last 17 months..

I am about to do the same kind of project and I think this is awesome. I think Power of Love will be in my top 50, I'm sure.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment on my latest mix. This series of mixes that you did look amazing. I have a 5 cd series of "songs that move me", which is similar, but instead of favs, it's all songs that move me to stop what I'm doing wherever I am and listen, songs that move me to sing along, songs that profoundly touch my soul, etc. Props for "Birdhouse in Your Soul" and "Come On Eileen". Those would definitely be in my favs list! Keep up the good work. =)
