Comment:

[As of my 9/21/05 revision...] Four full-lengths and a mini-LP in, I feel confident that this guy is one of the singer-songwriter greats. Fantastic all around, despite the hype and his grating image. The last track cut from this revision was the seriously haunting "Inaniel." Other strong contenders (many of which would be here before "Dragonflys," which made the cut due to its exceptionally short length): "Rejoicing in the Hands," "Cosmos and Demos," "Camela," "I Feel Just Like a Child," "Hey Mama Wolf," "Heard Somebody Say," "Animals...," and "A Gentle Soul," to name just a few.

Certainly one of the most unique voices to come around for quite a long time. Maybe a little too quirky and off-beat to warrant "greats" (he's not always an easy listen), but he's definitely a talent to be reckoned with.

An artist I'm hearing more about than from, but what I've heard so far has made me hungry for more. Maybe we'll work out another swap before the year's end Rob.

Heard of him only. Judging by the comments I'd like to hear this - I always enjoy quirky and off the wall artists.

I'm a huge fan of him and his compadres's in the SF scene. If you haven't heard Vetiver yet, then I suggest you check them out. Banhart is in the band.

OK, it's almost December - I am seriously behind here, and I am seriously sorry I wasn't able to pass comment on this sooner. I'm really happy you did this and it seems to have turned out beautifully - at the moment I'm loving Banhart, despite, as you said, the hype. Plus, the guy uses my name in a song, which is good enough for me. :) I'm glad you have Rejoicing In The Hands on there - what a lovely track.
