Comment:
Most of this is relatively mainstream(mot inconnu chez AOTM) rock and pop that
has appeared on the Top 40 (quel horreur,
disent mes copains) in France or Quebec.
The Zouk song is from Martinique. (Zouk is a Caribbean style akin
to soca).
Linda De Suza is from Portugal.
Carla Bruni is from Italy.
Bonnie Tyler is from the UK.
Ditto Stereolab, although frontlady Laetitia Sadier is
from France. (There is a story to that strange song title,
but suffice it to say, la chanson ne traite pas de nichons).
Marie-Chantal, LL, and Natasha are from Canada.
Everybody else, as far as I know, is from France.
The title, which roughly means "Don't tell Mama that I am the hottest
thing around," is from AlizTe's "Moi... Lolita," a song written by
AlizTe's mentor, MylFne Farmer.
Lolita, comme vous savez, est la jeune vedette de l'excellent
Humbert and Lo de notre ami Steve.
AlizTe is now France's
second most photographed female (et c'est la No. 1 de
celles qui se maintiennent habillTes devant la camera).
If your French is really good, thank you for being patient with my
humble franglais.
On the other hand, if your French needs practice, note that
lyrics for most of the songs are posted at
Paroles.
So go ahead and
tTlTcharger les paroles and sing along with the
French ladies.
Feedback:
I'm going to have to learn French.
Wow! Two excellent French mixes posted on the same day (see Jaime B's mix). Anyway, I love French ladies, yet I'm unfamiliar with many of the above artists (I mostly know the ones from the 60s). Venture a trade Sir Mixxer Alot?
I'd rather listen to this than go to French class, & I bet it would do me more good, too . . .
Wow. This looks excellent, though mostly unfamiliar, 'cept Sterolab of course.
Excellent!
looks swell too
Une bonne mTlange et je traduire le titre pas de problem, peut-Otre je progrFs en Frantais. (spoken at least, written is another matter)Me thinks I should own this if you'd care tot trade?
Tot trade? Je suis tout le pouce et doigts.
Tot trade? I was happy just to trade you one of my mixes for this, but if you want me to throw in my 3-year-old cousin Sydney, let me know.
Tres bien (?)...
Fascinating stuff!
So you finished the French mix! I am very sorry I missed it. Can we arrange a trade? Is there something I've done lately that appeals to you, or maybe a challenge to complete that dreamed-of special order? THanks so much for the text attachment in the email. That will be fun to try out.
Oh la laaa!
