Comment:

Going through a rough spell lately - in a bit of a funk, I suppose. Partly the election, of course - and the ensuing gloating by ass-munch Bush supporters (no one likes a sore winner, y'know). So this is my therapy. I have this idea for a new Billy Jack movie, and this is the soundtrack - mostly country, with a melancholy thread and occasional rave-ups (for the fight scenes). Don't know about you, but I think we've all got a little Billy Jack in us -- the bone-crunching, ass-kicking pacifist, half-breed Indian. Hell-bent on justice, man - that's me... And as Billy Jack put it, "The Indians say - today's a good a day as any to die." That's deep. For the uninitiated, go out and rent "Billy Jack", then "The Born Losers" (which actually came out before it). Skip the snooze-fest "The Trial of Billy Jack" and fast-forward through "Billy Jack goes to Washington." Then imagine the come-back movie that I'm dreaming of. Billy Jack comes back to claim his revenge against the Man. Of course, he dies in the end - but not without leaving a son! Tom Laughlin, return my calls!

Cool. I'm not sure I really want to see a new Billy Jack movie, but I'd pick up this soundtrack.

I'm sure you're familiar with that Curtis Mayfield track with the same name, really cool soundtrack, I can imagine a thief chase with the Ventures song in the background even that I prefer Incredible bongo beats version ;)

Another fine mix. You really do catpure what would be an acurate soundtrack to a new Billy Jack movie. Love the Gun Club/Green on Red opener and the Dillard & Clark/Beachwood Sparks/Byrds run. And Davie Allen & the Arrows are underutilized for soundtrack work these days.I, for one, would welcome a new Billy Jack since, for some reason unknown to me, I love those movies. Even "Trial" has enough to make watch it when I stumble upon it on cable. "Now, which is it gonna be: drive your car in the lake or get a dislocated elbow?" -Dale/ThisIsPop!

Awww shucks...it was just some kids havin' fun; no offense fellas. You know the pendulum, she's a swingin' back & forth...I'll bet you guys kick big GOP butt in 2008. Then it'll be the l@bs-man wiping a teary eye.
Either that...or, if history repeats itself, ole' Georgie's gonna' get hisself caught up in a great big Republican scandal. As soon as that happens, y'all are invited over to my part of the site to razz my sorry, humble derriere.

I loved these movies, and this mix is a fine tribute. I'm glad you skipped "Indian Reservation," but a fine addition would be "Indian Outlaw" by Steve Earle. The Boondocks song and the CCR are just the right tone.

I went to high school with some of the lesser stars of Billy Jack ... like Sunshine who gets the ice cream ... or is it flour poured over her head ... Notwithstanding that reverie ... great great mix ... in the spirit of Fra Dom!

Well, I definitely hope this is helping you get out of that funk - I think it would help anyone, though. The Gun club track is great, as are those of the Kinks and Long Ryders. And a perfect soundtrack!

Who wants to see yet another movie about a wannabe "Indian" preaching pacifism while essentially PROVING that the only way to effect change is through violence? Even as a dumb hippie punk I could see the fallacy of the BJ "themes".
