Comment:
The One and Only Unique Ason--If you don't know, it's too late to ask. This disc has more tracks than anything I've ever done--34 in all (I had to leave the skits off the list here just to make everything fit). To get everything on the disc, I had to chop like Morimoto. Most of the songs run under 2 minutes now, but it's still all there--as hilarious, confusing, frustrating, and thrilling as I understood his short life to be. Let me know if I missed anything, or about trades or whatever.Feedback:
I'm not the biggest fan of hip-hop but I really liked ODB's style. Quite unorthodox. Great tribute.
Thanks, Salman1. I don't think one has to like hip-hop to like him. He seemed to me to be more of the continuation of that crazy thread that connects Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Richard Pryor, Blowfly, Rick James, Howlin' Wolf, Biz Markie, and so many more. He came from a place where scatology was an equal science alongside ontology and cosmology, and was never afraid of defying himself or anyone else. However caustic and insane he got, he never seemed to stop loving his audience and the act of performing. He was always just playing around. I just wish more people had the chance to get past his status as an aging pop culture joke. That's the saddest thing about him dying right now.
Oh man, this is unbelievably great. ODB was wholly original and is one of the rare artists who put his whole personality on display in his music. The mix is great too. There's still lots more to be mined from Nigga Please & Return to the 36 Chambers too. The liner art is perfect.
