Comment:

So, we had this "tacky gift" pollyanna at work last fall. For my gift, I made a CD called Really Bad Music, which you can also find on this website. I was going to make RBM Vol 2 for this year's tacky pollyanna, but last year's mix was so bad, I could never possibly make a worse (and thus, better--get the paradox?) Really Bad Music CD than the one I already had made. So, instead, I'm making a nothing-but-"Jingle Bells" CD. It's odd--I doubt that anyone would say that "Jingle Bells" is their favorite Christmas song, but nearly everyone has recorded it. It has an interesting history, which I'm not going to get into here but I might write more about it for my website. Aside from two recent purchases, I found all of these versions in my own collection. My mom has another ten versions I don't have, so this mix may be updated (it's going to have to be anyway--as I'm listening to it now, it sounds as if the CD I burned it on is defective)! Stay tuned! Incidentally, the Lena Horne track is supposed to be a different song than "Jingle Bells," with a different set of songwriters. But it's basically "Jingle Bells" with a few altered lyrics.

This looks... uh... fun. ;-) Fantastic concept, although I have my doubts regarding how long I can listen to "Jingle Bells." That is a great title, though.

Oh jesus, this is terrifying. My wife used to put on the Barbara Streisand version to clear out her record store.

So this is what hell sounds like -- though it's better than a stocking full of coal. Cool.

The one redeeming feature of this mix is that it doesn't contain Rhan Wilson's version, which is over 11 minutes long, and in a minor key.

I love it. [This is the sort of thing I would love to throw my uncle's way. Only he is sick enough to actually APPRECIATE.] Great job!

If I were a braver man, I'd pick this as mix of the week.

Hells Bells! Great artists but I don't think I'd last the duration.
