Comment:
I don't know what it says about me that all these songs are stuck in my head. Probably not good. For me this mix is about looking into the depths of the soul and taking responsibilty for what you find there.
I tried to be careful about sequencing here, and there is a definite progression both in key and in mood throughout the mix. I wanted to use "My Body May Die" by Pulp with the Swingle Sisters instead of the Joy Division song, but I only had a 64K recording of it and it sounded lousy.
Most of the songs are self explanatory. I had "Pretty (Ugly Before)" on a 7" before Elliott Smith died, and thought it was a beautiful song; still do. The Gastr track has been trying to get onto one of my mixes for about 7 years. I'm glad I finally found one with enough space between its bones for it to climb aboard. Likewise "The Sprawl", which picks up from the lyrical theme of the U2 track right before it and the pace of the Mission of Burma track and winds it out to a sunburnt infinity. The Radiohead track is a b-side from the "Hail to the Thief" album and is well worth checking out.
Feedback:
Very nice job. You obviously put a lot of thought into your mixes.
