Comment:
Yet another mix comp, a holiday-themed one this time. Mind you, it doesn't have to be a Christmas song (hence the D4 track - it's all about the holiday tour of the city, baby) but it has to be related. This is an odd mix of the new, the traditional and the weird with several obvious omissions. No "Father Christmas"? Dude, no "Fairytale Of New York"? Not even that Waitresses song or Blink-182's meditation on assaulting and battering carolers? How can you call this a holiday mix when it overlooks so many no-brainers? Easy. BECAUSE THEY'RE NO-BRAINERS. I won't argue that this mix is the best thing ever done, but there's enough here to keep most people happy for a long enough period of time that they will eventually hear something else they like. And then there's the less available cheeseball stuff as musical transitions. And, maybe best of all, Atmosphere bringing a conscious, hip-hop sense of activism to the mix with a lyrical dream about what it would be like if he were Santa Claus. Izzat you, Santy Claus? (Yes, I remember the Lump Of Coal compilation - yes, I remember Rollins reading "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" over machine gun fire - so what?). Dig. Enjoy. All that junk.Feedback:
Looks good Scotty! Since you're not getting a Christmas card from me this year, let me take this opportunity to wish you and your family happy holidays. Check out my Christmas mix, also posted today.
Haven't heard the Billy May track-but I like the idea. The Alarm take on that track is a msytery as well.., but I like your style.
Nice 'n' messy.
I formally request a copy of this.
